about us
The Backbenchers, founded in 2024 is more than just a motorcycle group—it's a brotherhood built on exploration, adventure, and a commitment to leaving drugs behind. Starting with just two riders, the group has quickly grown to over 100 members in just few months.
This group isn’t just for the seasoned rider; it's a welcoming space for anyone over 18 with a passion for riding, regardless of experience. Every Sunday, the group hits the road for early morning rides, with longer journeys planned every two months. Safety is a priority, so full riding gear is a must.
Respect and inclusivity are at the heart of this community, where riders from all walks of life come together. The Backbenchers have already achieved incredible milestones, including reaching the highest motorable road in the world. Ready to ride? Connect through the contact page on the website.
our story
The Backbenchers began with Onkar Singh’s solo riding adventures. After countless rides alone, he envisioned a group where riders could share the journey together. Despite several attempts, Onkar finally created the motorcycle group they had always dreamed of.
Onkar, who has clocked over 50,000 km on his beloved Hero Honda Splendor+ (Babbu), met Jaspreet during a ride. Together with four other riders, they initially formed a WhatsApp group to share their experiences. This simple idea soon blossomed into The Backbenchers Riding Community.
The group saw significant growth following a major ride organised by the motorcycle brand Jawa, where many new riders joined. In just five months, The Backbenchers achieved remarkable milestones: completing the Mohali-Spiti-Manali-Mohali circuit, visiting Gumbok Rangan (the "God's Mountain"), Zojila Pass, and reaching the highest motorable road in the world and many more exciting rides.
Beyond the road, The Backbenchers have had a positive impact on members' lives, helping some overcome drug use and inspiring safer riding practices. Looking ahead, the goal is to become one of North India’s largest biker groups, organize the North India Rikers Meet (NIRM), and venture into international rides.
